Nolan DeMarco McGahan

For much of his life, Nolan has considered himself a modern nomad who has sought out the untraditional paths of life. A man from Dallas, TX, with a formal fine arts education and somatic awareness experience. He has dirtied his hands volunteering his time planting trees in communities nationwide, has taught English in India, and spent 19 days rafting the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. A Juilliard-educated former leading member of the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet who was praised for his expert partnering skills and performed in many national and international galas and festivals, including as Romeo in Romeo & Juliet in collaboration with the Aspen Summer Music Festival. To Nolan, trust, communication, and the ability to attune and listen to his partners were always central to his progress and career as a performer.

He is also the 2008 Tennessee Williams Literary Festival (NOLA) Stella Yellin’ Champion!

While in NYC at Juilliard, he studied all forms of dance and movement, ranging from classical ballet and modern improvisations to Butoh, Gaga, and Pop & Lock. He was also exposed to several other movement and mind-body awareness modalities, such as the Alexander Technique, the Feldenkrais Method, and the Franklin Method. During his junior year, Nolan advanced his knowledge in his first deep dive into Anatomy & Kinesiology with Irene Dowd. The knowledge he gained during the course remained pertinent throughout his career. Having suffered a severe ankle injury before graduating high school and obsessing over the rehabilitation, deep functional understanding was always at the forefront of Nolan’s relationship with movement performance.

He’s been a yoga practitioner for more than 20 years, completed a yoga teacher trainer, and regularly practices meditation and breathwork. Nolan worked at StretchLab locations in Denver and Boulder before further developing his skills by pursuing a deeper understanding of working effectively with different bodies at the Dr Ida Rolf Institute. He has worked with clients who are affected by myopathy, spastic paraplegia, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, severe cases of arthritis and scoliosis, piriformis syndrome, and frozen shoulder, among other conditions, and has worked with many professional and college-level athletes.

-Sam S.

he was cognizant of other underlying issues while he worked with me. Today, I felt amazing! So much of the tension is gone. I also got a bit of relief from additional chronic pain caused by inflammation. I will definitely be going back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for some help going the extra few inches!
